Tirta Empul

Pura Tirta Empul Tirta Empul Temple and is located in the village area of washing Manukaya, District Sukawati, Gianyar. Tampaksiring is a name and a village located 36 km from Denpasar.

 

 

Pura Tirta Empul as relics of the kingdom in Bali, one of the few ancient relics to be witnessed and known in the village. West side of the temple at a height is the Presidential Palace built in the administration of President Sukarno.

Regarding the name of this temple is most likely named after the springs contained within this temple named Tirta Empul as mentioned above. Etymologically that Tirta Empul means water that gushes out of the ground. Then Tirta Empul means holy water that gushes out of the ground.

Tirta Empul water flowing into the river Pakerisan. Along the river, there are some ancient relics. Establishment of this temple is expected in the year 960 AD in the era of King Chandra Bhayasingha Warmadewa Dynasty. As usual the temple - the temple in Bali, the temple is divided into three parts which are Jaba Pura (front page), Jaba Central (Central page) and Offal (Page In).

In the Middle Jaba there are two (2) pieces of the long rectangular pool and the pool has 30 pieces lined shower from East to West facing South. Each - each shower, according to tradition has its own name such Pengelukatan showers, Pebersihan, Sudamala and Shower cetik (Toxic).

Shower cetik and Tirta Empul name has something to do with the mythology that battle Mayadenawa King Stone Anyar (Bedahulu) with Batara Indra.

In mythology it is told that King Mayadenawa be arbitrary - arbitrary and does not allow people to carry out the ceremony - a religious ceremony to beg salvation from God Almighty. After the act is known by the Gods, then the gods headed by Indra Bhatara attack Mayadenawa.

Mayadenawa ultimately can be defeated and fled north side reached the village Looks siring.

As a result of his power Mayadenawa create a spring cetik (poison), which resulted in many of the paramilitary troops of Lord Indra who died from drinking the water. Seeing this spear of Lord Indra immediately plugging and emit water out of the ground (Tirta Empul) and sprinkled holy water is used so that the Gods are not for some time to live again as usual.
